Chapter one – Gold can glitter but it can’t sing
The day was July 27Th in the year of the Lord 1862.

Blue now had his two front feet on the porch with his head and neck inside the doorway, watching everything that was going on. He looked at his horse and said, “so what do you think, should we see if we can find that Indian Medicine woman we saw in the meadow last week or what”. Blue nickered back in a soft whispering tone. The light in the cabin was growing dim with the fading rays of the sun but it would`t take long to get toasty inside now that the fire was going. So he stood up after putting a pot of water on and walked back over to the bed looking down at her fragile form saying; “well Blue she’s going to die if we don’t get her some help and by the look of all those cuts and bruises I’d be thinking the sooner we find that Medicine woman the better, I’d say the bath can wait, we can live with the smell for a little longer”. Blue stepped backwards off the porch as he started walking in the direction of the open doorway. He stepped onto the porch shutting the heavy solid plank door firmly behind him before stepping back into the saddle. Then he turn Blue around and headed in the direction of the meadow at a dead run.
