Chapter one � Gold can glitter but it can�t sing
The day was July 27Th in the year of the Lord 1862.
.....
He had seen the Indian women when they had been out hunting a week or so before. She had been picking herbs and gathering plants unaware that he had been watching her through the trees on the edge of the thicket. She was gathering some kind of weeds and filling up a leather bag she wore tied around her waist. She seemed to be alone at the time and when she finished, she just hopped on her horse bareback and rode off across the creek in a southwest direction. That�s where he�d try to find her now, it was the only clue he had as to where the Indian�s camp might be located. The moon was coming up full and the twilight of the evening cast shadows on the ground as he walked Blue across the gravel creek bed on the far side of the lower meadow. Oh where oh where would the Indian Camp be, he quietly mumbled under his breath. He constantly scanned the country side looking for any sign of life, but wild wilderness was the only thing he found.
