Venice oh Venice write me a poem, before the waters flood our home. Oh Venice, dear Venice we are both the same, our towns are flooding with water again.... As of today, May 8, 2013, my home town of Grand Forks, BC is on flood watch, the snow melt is coming down fast and it looks like we could be underwater soon. This painting is my ode to the Merchants of Grand Forks who are busily preparing for the high water. I'll be taking pictures....

Barbara St. Jean was born in Maple Ridge, BC. At the age of four she was introduced to Belle Morse from the Maple Ridge Merry Makers and her career in the arts was started. Over the next 26 years she studied dance and acting, and performed in hundreds of well known theatre productions throughout the province. Many of her performances have been televised and are still shown today. In 1980 Barbara opened her own dance studio in Mission, BC and shortly after, received her accreditation in choreography. She graduated from university in 1989 with a degree in Business and Economic Management. Her love of the arts continued to grow and expanded into drawing, sculpting and painting in the early 80’s.
